The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has announced two new Environmental and Regulatory public registry postings. Both were posted publicly on September 9, 2021. The postings will provide the public with an overview of the program changes which were previously shared through industry stakeholder sessions held earlier this year.

Modernizing Ontario’s Vehicle Inspection Program & integrating safety and emissions inspections for commercial vehicles:
Summary: The MTO is proposing to introduce new regulatory requirements for garages and technicians to participate in a Vehicle Inspection Program, replacing the Motor Vehicle Inspection Station (MVIS) program. Changes will integrate safety and emission standards and move on-road vehicle emission standards to the Highway Traffic Act.
