Fleet Safety Council September Updates!

The time has come for the Fleet Safety Council meetings to resume once again. Chapter executives have been working hard to book great speakers across the Province to kick-off the new season. Here is a list of speakers, dates and topics for September:

  • FSC Eastern (Ottawa):
    • Date: Tuesday September 10th
    • Steve Eastman from Transport Canada will be speaking on Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • FSC Southwestern (London):
    • Date: Tuesday September 10th
    • Chris Wilkinson from Nordrux will be speaking on Oral Fluid versus Urine Drug Testing
  • FSC Central Eastern (Durham):
    • Thursday September 12th
    • Anne Champagne from Transport Canada will be speaking on Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Shane Miller from the Ministry of Transportation will be providing an update to the membership
  • FSC Northern (Sudbury):
    • Tuesday September 17th:
    • A representative from the Ontario Provincial Police will be providing an update to the membership
  • FSC Toronto:
    • Thursday September 19th
    • Mike Millian from the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada will be sharing a transportation industry update
  • FSC Central (Cambridge):
    • Wednesday September 25th
    • Chris Wilkinson from Nordrux will be speaking on Oral Fluid versus Urine Drug Testing
  • FSC Hamilton/Niagara:
    • Thursday September 26th
    • Mike Millian from the Private Motor Truck Council of Canada will be sharing a transportation industry update

Driver and Safety Professional of the Year Presentations:
At the September chapter meetings, the recipients of the regional/chapter driver and/or safety professional of the year will be recognized! Don’t miss this opportunity to come out and recognize these deserving individuals for all their efforts in helping keep our roads safe. These deserving individuals will also be recognized at the 33rd Annual Conference in October where one driver and one safety professional will receive the Provincial Award sponsored by TruckRight!

FSC Central Chapter hosts discussion and panel on recruitment and retainment of women in trucking

The Central chapter of the Fleet Safety Council is hosting an innovative discussion and panel by women on the subject of women in trucking at its next virtual meeting. The event, which will include its regular membership is open to anyone wishing to take part.

The virtual breakout “table” discussion will attempt to answer the question, “What is your company doing to recruit, retain, or support women in transportation?” As well a panel discussion, moderated by Krista Murray of Millcreek will include as panelists:

  • Judy McKeegan – Gray Ridge
  • Connie Phillips – SST
  • Robin Alston – Wellington MF
