This years recipient of The Ken Hellawell Award is Paul Cavalier. This annual award recognizes contributions made by an individual that is active or retired from the Ontario Transportation industry and exhibits extraordinary leadership, initiative, creativity, and innovation towards the advancement of health and safety.
Paul’s career spanned over 50 years of which 45 he was involved in snow and ice operations and training. Paul recently retired from the City of Ottawa, Fleet Training Services, and has since established his own driver training business.
Throughout his career Paul has developed and delivered training programs for paramedic services, snowplow programs for municipal operators and training programs for instructors at Algonquin College and various truck training schools. He was a founding member of the Eastern Ontario Chapter (Ottawa) of the Fleet Safety Council and sat on the board of directors for the Road Safety Educators Association. Paul has been an MTO Signing Authority since 1985 for Classes A, C, D and F licenses and Z endorsement.
Paul was recognized for winning the award at the 30th Annual Virtual FSC Educational Conference.
